Late Friday afternoon, July 10, 2026, the Burton Fire District responded to a vehicle fire resulting in one person sustaining injuries.
Just before 4:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a reported vehicle fire endangering a home on Laurel Street East in Burton. Firefighters arrived on scene and found fire consuming the rear of a passenger vehicle approximately 15 feet from a home.
Firefighters quickly controlled and extinguished the fire. The home was not damaged.
A young male stated that he was working on the vehicle’s fuel pump when it erupted in flames briefly consuming him. He sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by a family member. A female occupant who was sitting in the driver’s seat at the time of the fire escaped uninjured.
