Voters will have another opportunity to meet candidates seeking local and federal office Wednesday evening as Shellring Ale Works wraps up its “Informed Voter Series” with a meet-and-greet featuring Beaufort County Council candidate Thomas Grygowski and congressional candidate Logan Cunningham.

The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, at Shellring Ale Works in Port Royal. According to the brewery’s social media announcement, the event is the final installment in its voter education series leading up to the June 9 primary election.

Cunningham currently serves on Beaufort County Council representing District 7 and is one of several Republicans seeking South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace, who is running for governor. Cunningham, a former teacher and six-year member of County Council, has campaigned on issues including growth management, infrastructure, education and what he describes as a “Lowcountry First” approach to representation.

Grygowski is one of two Republicans competing in the Beaufort County Council District 4 primary race. The winner of that June 9 contest will advance to the November general election.

The event continues a series of candidate appearances hosted by Shellring Ale Works in recent weeks as voters prepare for primary day. The brewery has hosted multiple candidate forums and meet-and-greet events featuring local and congressional candidates from several races. Those events have provided voters with opportunities to speak directly with candidates in a less formal setting than traditional debates or forums.

The June 9 primary ballot includes several contested local races in Beaufort County, including Beaufort County Council districts 4, 5, 8, 9 and 11, the Beaufort County sheriff’s race and the crowded Republican and Democratic primaries for South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District. Early voting is already underway and continues through June 5.

Wednesday’s event is open to the public.
