Burton Fire assists driver after vehicle strikes home

Thursday afternoon, May 14, the Burton Fire District and Beaufort County EMS and Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a home that was struck by a vehicle.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., emergency crews responded to a reported vehicle collision involving a vehicle striking a home on Riley Road. Crews arrived on scene to find a vehicle, with the driver still inside, that had left the roadway, drove through a fence and struck the corner of a mobile home.

No one was in the home at the time and it is unknown if the home is occupied. Firefighters and EMS personnel helped remove the driver who appeared uninjured but was still transported by EMS to the hospital as a precaution.

It is believed the driver may have had a medical emergency that resulted in the collision.
