The Parish Church at Habersham is a relatively new building that was consecrated at the end of January last year. It’s a beautiful space with exposed wooden beams and windows that soar to the ceiling. It might be a touch austere for certain tastes, but it was recently warmed up through an engaging lecture on Gullah Geechee culture by artist, historian, and memory worker Tendaji Bailey.

It’s safe to say that this year’s Beaufort International Film Festival will display oodles of passion, and the USCB auditorium will ring loudly with applause. It runs from Thuesday, Feb. 17 through Sunday, Feb. 22.
It can be hard to pinpoint the spirit of a place until you spend time within its walls or talk to those who do, especially if it is a place where many people come to try and resolve various life challenges.
