Mike McCombs is the Editor in Chief of The Island News and has been working as a journalist in the state of South Carolina for the better part of three decades. He has won numerous writing, design and editing awards from the South Carolina Press Association, as well at the Associated Press Sports Editors. Mike graduated with a B.A. in History from Clemson University, where he worked as the Sports Editor and News Editor for The Tiger, South Carolina’s oldest college newspaper. He is also a graduate of the Maynard Institute for Journalism Education’s Summer Editing Program at the University of Nevada in Reno, as well as a 2023 graduate of Leadership Beaufort.
