A bicyclist killed in a collision Friday morning, July 17, 2026, on Trask Parkway has been identified as a 31-year-old Georgia man.
The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Christopher James of Wrens, Ga. James died from injuries sustained when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a 2011 Toyota SUV around 9:40 a.m.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, James was traveling north on Trask Parkway near Stroban Road when the northbound SUV struck him. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota SUV was transported to an area hospital following the collision. Authorities have not released the driver’s identity or provided an update on the driver’s condition.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. No charges have been announced, and investigators have not released additional information about what may have led to the collision.
The crash temporarily affected traffic along Trask Parkway while emergency responders and investigators worked at the scene.
