TCL names Boeding as new president

Staff reports

Technical College of the Lowcountry (TCL) has announced the appointment of Laurie A. Boeding as its next president, effective July 1, according to a TCL media release from last week.

Boeding brings more than two decades of higher education experience and a record of expanding student access, strengthening workforce pathways, and driving measurable improvements in student outcomes.

Boeding joins TCL from Trident Technical College in Charleston, where she serves as Vice President for Academic Affairs. In that role, she has led initiatives to align academic programs with regional labor market needs, streamline curricula, and expand stackable credential opportunities. She has also championed high-quality online learning and data-driven approaches to student success.

“I am honored to join the Technical College of the Lowcountry and serve the students, faculty, staff, and communities of Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton, and Colleton counties,” Boeding said. “TCL has a strong reputation for student success, workforce development, and community partnership. I look forward to building on that foundation, listening to the community, and working together to expand opportunities that strengthen lives, businesses, and the region’s economy.”

Boeding holds a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration, a Master of Science in Information Systems Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She is a current Aspen Rising Presidents Fellow, a nationally recognized leadership development program for community college presidents committed to student success.

Prior to serving as chief academic officer at Trident Technical College, Boeding held multiple leadership positions including campus dean, academic dean, associate dean, department chair, and faculty member. She also brings professional experience as a Department of Defense contractor and in federal civil service.

Active in regional and national leadership, Boeding serves on the Board of Directors and Associate Degree Board of Commissioners for the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), the American Technical Education Association (ATEA), and the Charleston Regional Development Alliance’s Economic Leadership Council. She has also served on the Lowcountry STEM Collaborative board.

“We are pleased to welcome Boeding as TCL’s next president,” said Randy Dolyniuk, Chair of the TCL Area Commission. “Her experience, leadership, and commitment to student success make her the right person to build on the college’s momentum and strengthen TCL’s impact throughout the Lowcountry.”

Boeding succeeds Richard Gough and becomes TCL’s fourth president.
