100 Women Who Care Beaufort has awarded a $10,600 charitable contribution to Beaufort Community Sailing & Boating (BCSB), a local nonprofit dedicated to teaching seamanship skills and providing sailing and boating instruction to youth and families throughout the Beaufort community.
BCSB supports more than 20 regular sailors and is preparing for six weeks of summer camp, during which it expects to serve approximately 115 individual sailors. The donation from 100 Women Who Care will directly fund safety equipment and essential replacements for the organization’s well-used fleet; certification and training for high-school students who serve as youth instructors; and outreach and scholarships to welcome new families and expand access to sailing
BCSB emphasizes that sailing should be accessible to all, regardless of privilege, yacht club membership, or financial means. With this funding, the organization hopes to invite up to a dozen new families to experience the joy of sailing while also addressing urgent boat-repair needs to ensure safety on the water.
