As a homeowner on Middle Road, I read your article regarding the lawsuit against the Barnwell Resources landfill with great interest. But the noxious fumes/smell is only part of the problem.
The huge 18 wheelers hauling garbage to the dump tear down Middle Road (passing the Coosa Elementary School entrance) at all hours of the day, at an average noise level of 97 decibels (measured at my front door with a brand new, calibrated noise level meter). Some exceed 100 decibels. All well above the legal limit. Yet the County, [BCSO], and the Royal Pines HOA do nothing.
And ludicrously, the County is planning to install a sidewalk down Middle Road so that young children can walk to school only several feet away from these huge, speeding, deafening monsters? How did this come to be?
How did Beaufort decide to let this happen in the middle of a residential neighborhood? I can only guess that kickbacks were involved. Is there any other logical answer?
