Cory Booker, the Democratic Senator from New Jersey, is holding a meet and greet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 10, on St. Helena Island.
In an online announcement the read “It’s time for Democrats to organize across South Carolina,” Booker invited those interested to register for the event “On the Road with Senator Cory Booker: Connecting Rural South Carolina.” Booker is also hosting similar events next week on Summerville and in Hampton County.
“As the government shutdown continues, South Carolina’s communities face increasingly difficult challenges. Veterans’ benefits, access to affordable healthcare, and other community needs are critical topics on the minds of South Carolinians,” the invitation read. “Come visit with Senator Cory Booker to discuss how to meet the moment!”
According to the S.C. Democratic Party’s Facebook post, Booker will be traveling with other state Democratic leaders.
Space is limited – it’s not clear where the event is being held — registration is required, and registration does not guarantee entry. The link for registration is https://www.mobilize.us/scdp/event/867835/.
According to the invitation, paid for and authorized by the South Carolina Democratic Party, exact location details will be emailed to all registrants 24 hours in advance of the event.
Booker last visited Beaufort in April of 2019, when he held a rally at Whale Branch Middle School while campaigning for the Democratic nomination for President in 2020.
