Nic Shuford threw touchdown passes to Gunnar Andrews and Terry Dortch and returned a kickoff for a touchdown to lead Beaufort Academy to its first win of the season, a 26-6 victory Friday afternoon, Sept. 4, 2026, at Hilton Head Prep.
The Eagles scored first on Andrews’ touchdown run and led 7-0 after the first quarter. BA had two scoring chances slip away with a missed field goal and a fumble deep in Dolphins territory, but Shuford engineered another drive and hit Andrews for a TD to make it 14-0.
After an Oliver Barracks touchdown run pulled HHP within 14-6 with 1:50 left in the half, Shuford provided a resounding answer, taking the ensuing kickoff 80 yards for a score to make it 20-6 at halftime.
The Eagles’ defense pitched a second-half shutout, and BA capped the scoring on the last play of the third quarter, when Shuford rolled to his left and found Dortch in the end zone despite taking a shot just as he released the ball.
BA (1-2) travels to Clarendon Hall on Friday. The Saints are 1-1 after losing 55-30 at Orangeburg Prep last week.

Hanahan 52, Beaufort 14
Braydon Moyd-Smalls rushed for a pair of touchdowns, but Beaufort’s defense couldn’t find an answer to the Hawks’ dynamic attack Friday on Lady’s Island.
Smalls scored from 22 yards out to make it 21-7 late in the first quarter, but Hanahan blew it open in the second quarter and opened up a 49-7 halftime lead. Smalls added a 2-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, but that was as close as the Eagles got the rest of the night.
Beaufort (1-2) travels to Columbia on Friday to take on SCISA power Hammond School. The Skyhawks (3-0) have already knocked off one public school this season, winning 31-13 at Brookland-Cayce to open the season.
Blackville-Hilda 40, Whale Branch 0
Whale Branch was no match for the Fighting Hawks on Friday, as the home team dominated on both sides of the ball in a lopsided win.
All the scoring came in the first half, with Blackville-Hilda controlling the contest with its punishing ground game. Jayden Peeples led the way, rushing for 170 yards and three touchdowns on just four carries, while Kaiden Davis added 129 yards and a score on eight attempts for the Fighting Hawks.
The Warriors managed only 44 yards of total offense.
Whale Branch (0-3) is off this week before traveling to Barnwell on Sept. 18.
Pinewood Prep 59, John Paul II 30
Jadon Inabinett rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries, and Alan Wolf added rushing and passing TDs, but it wasn’t enough for the Golden Warriors to keep pace with a powerful Pinewood Prep offense.
Silas Brawner picked apart JPII’s secondary, going 17-of-23 for 378 passing yards and five touchdowns, including three TD passes to Lavoris Lucas, who caught four passes for 114 yards. Grayson Salego rushed for 109 yards and two TDs on 10 carries to lead the Panthers’ rushing game.
Wolf rushed nine times for 62 yards and a score and was 11-of-21 for 99 passing yards with a TD and an interception. Zach Moulton had five catches for 90 yards and a score for JPII.
JPII (0-4) hosts Laurence Manning Academy on Friday. The Swampcats are 1-1 and coming off a 44-0 loss to Hammond School.
