League of Women Voters to hear about book bans

The League of Women Voters of Beaufort is beginning its 2024 activities as the year holds key elections for the state and nation. Members and friends are invited to join and become involved with the community through the League’s new structure.

The first General Membership Meeting of 2024 will be held at 5 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 11 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Beaufort, 178 Sams Point Road, Beaufort.

Special speaker, Mary Foster of Families Against Book Bans, will discuss how losing our rights and freedoms begins at home with book bans. The League will also meet in collaboration circles for members to interact and to get involved.

The event is free and open to the public.
