A Burton teenager has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting that sent gunfire into a Lady’s Island apartment building Monday evening, Dec. 22, authorities said.

Nyzahir Juelz-Chri Chin, 18, was arrested Tuesday and faces multiple charges, including two counts of attempted murder, felony weapons possession, discharging a firearm into a dwelling, aggravated breach of peace and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to inmate records.

The shooting occurred around 7 p.m. at the HarborOne Apartments on Lady’s Island. Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said Chin is accused of firing into an apartment occupied by three people — a 7-year-old and two teenagers, ages 16 and 17.

No injuries were reported.

Chin was denied bond during a Wednesday morning court hearing and remains in custody at the Beaufort County Detention Center.

Court records indicate Chin has no prior criminal history in Beaufort or Jasper counties. The case remains under investigation.
