Historic Beaufort Foundation and the Lafayette Bicentennial Planning Committee presented a “time capsule” to Beaufort City Council and Beaufort County Council commemorating the March 18, 1825 visit of Marquis de Lafayette.
The capsule marks the 200th anniversary of Lafayette’s historic stop in Beaufort, highlighting the city’s deep historical roots and its connection to a key figure of the American Revolution. It will become a permanent part of the Beaufort District Collection at the Beaufort County Library, preserving this chapter of local history for future generations.
