Shortly after midnight this morning, December 18, 2012, Beaufort Police Officers were called to Beaufort Memorial Hospital in reference to a gunshot victim. Officers met with a 24 year old man who had what appeared to be a small caliber bullet wound to the arm. The subject told officers that he had been loading items into his vehicle in the parking lot of Wal-Mart (on Robert Smalls)when he heard some gunshots and felt something hit his arm. He then drove to his home and had another person drive him to the hospital for treatment. Officers went to the reported scene and located a vehicle that had apparently been struck by a bullet and some blood on the ground. Some witnesses were located who reported hearing three to four shots at approximately 11:30 p.m. Investigators believe the suspects are two black males that were driving a white four door sedan. Witnesses reported that the victim was observed in a verbal dispute with two men just prior to the incident and it is believed that the dispute is directly related to the shooting. Video of the area is being reviewed as it becomes available this morning. The investigation is active and anyone with information regarding it is requested to contact Investigator Dowling at 322-7950 or the 24 hour dispatch office at 524-2777.
