Tiger Express on Lady’s Island Robbed at Gunpoint

LADY’S ISLAND, SC (March 15, 2012/10:00 AM) – The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a Lady’s Island gas station last night.

At approximately 10:30 pm, Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Tiger Express (1 Fairfield Rd) in reference to a silent hold-up alarm activated at the business. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with two female store employees who advised that a robbery had occurred moments earlier.

The clerks reported that a masked black male entered the store at approximately 10:20 pm, armed with a handgun. The suspect forced the clerks towards the registers, demanding money. After being given an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled the store, running towards Fairfield Rd. Neither employee sustained any injuries, and no customers were present in the store at the time of the incident.

The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 5’11”, 170 lbs of unknown age. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a distinct orange, red and yellow bird on the back, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black ski mask.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to contact either Investigator Sgt. J. Gobel at 843-255-3421 or the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at 843-524-2777.
