The newest member of Beaufort County Council was sworn into office Monday February 4 at 10 a.m. in Council Chambers in Beaufort.
Roberts Vaux, Jr., known as Tabor, won a special election last Tuesday, Jan. 29, to fill the Council District 9 seat left vacant by Weston Newton, who was elected to be a state representative.
Vaux has spent almost his entire life in Bluffton. He is a graduate of Hilton Head High School, The Citadel and the Charleston School of Law.
After law school, he served as an assistant solicitor, prosecuting criminal cases in Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton, Colleton and Allendale counties. The practice Tabor is now a part of focuses on person injury, civil litigation, DUI and criminal defense. He also serves as a South Carolina State Constable and prosecutor for the Town of Port Royal.
