Mobile home fire closes two lanes of Trask Parkway Monday night

From staff reports

Late Monday evening, Oct. 16, the Burton Fire District, Beaufort County EMS, and MCAS Fire and Rescue extinguished a fully involved mobile home on Trask Parkway resulting in the closing of two lanes.

At approximately 11 p.m., the Burton Fire District responded to a reported house fire on Trask Parkway by Big Road. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a mobile home fully involved in fire.

Fire crews had to close both north bound lanes of Trask Parkway for longer than two hours to extinguish the fire. The mobile home appears to have been abandoned. No injuries were reported.

Burton fire investigators continue to investigate the cause of the fire. Anyone with any information is encouraged to call the Burton Fire District at 843-255-8011.

Early Tuesday morning, Burton and MCAS firefighters, along with Beaufort County EMS, again responded to a reported house fire on Rentz Street after a smoke alarm woke and alerted a family to a possible fire.

Firefighters arrived on scene to a single-family home, and while no visible flames or smoke were found, fire crews located an outlet serving the dryer that had caught fire but self-extinguished. Damages were limited to the dryer. No injuries were reported and the family returned to the home.
