Girl Scout Troop 4105 holds 4th Annual Cancer Walk

Girl Scout Troop 4105 held its 4th Annual Cancer Walk on Saturday, Oct. 31, starting at South Carolina Coastal Community Development Corporation (CDC) and making its way to St. Helena Elementary School and back.

In addition to the walk, the troop honored Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low with a memorial. She died of breast cancer in 1927 at her home in Savannah. Her 160th birthday was Saturday.

The walk featured a program with Inez Miller as speaker. At the end of the program, the troop released pink and white balloons.

Seventy community members from Beaufort and Jasper counties took part in the walk.

Troop 4105 wants to thank the community and its sponsors – South Carolina Community Development Corporation (CDC), Beaufort Jasper Comprehensive Health Services, Healthy Blue of South Carolina, AlphaGraphics, Budget Print, Staples, Regions Bank (Lady’s Island branch), Marie Gibbs and Bettye Pringle.
