South Carolina’s “Go To” professional Sound Mixer, Jonathan Gaynor, will be honored at the 10th Annual Beaufort International Film Festival taking place February 10-14, 2016 in Beaufort. He will be presented with the festival’s prestigious “Behind the Scenes” Award for his work on more than 50 film and television programs spanning more than 20 years. His resume includes work on films like Forrest Gump, Dear John, The Notebook, and The Patriot. Also included is work in the Sound Department on the long running television series, Army Wives.
Jonathan began recording sound professionally in the late 1970s while involved with theatrical and film lighting, live sound reinforcement and photography. After moving to South Carolina from New York City in the late 1980s and seeing a need for someone to service the growing film and TV production sound market, he acquired his first recording package with the help of a sound mentor from his theater days. In the twenty some years since then he’s had the pleasure of working alongside many skilled and creative people helping to make a number of enduring stories for the screen.
