From staff reports

The Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce is calling on members of the community to nominate an individual or business for one of the prestigious Civitas Awards.

The Civitas Awards are an annual tradition honoring outstanding community leaders, businesses, and organizations in the Beaufort community. This longest-standing business recognition program in Beaufort is celebrating its 22nd year. Nominations are due to mmorris@beaufortchamber.org by Friday Sept. 2.

Individual Awards include the Sentinel Award for Military Excellence, the Pillar Award for Community Leadership, and the Buzzworthy Award for a Rising Professional.

Business Awards include the Cornerstone Award for Small Business Excellence, the Caretaker Award for Outstanding Non-Profit, the Trailblazer Award for Investment in Free Enterprise, and the Torchbearer Award for Regional Economic Impact.

Also of note, two very special Civitas Awards that do not seek nominations are the Chairman’s Award to an individual who has gone above and beyond for the Chamber, and the Lifetime of Leadership Award, which will be given to the newest member of the “club” by previous Lifetime Achievement winners.

Award finalists will be announced in September throughout Chamber communication platforms. The winners of each award will be announced at the Civitas Awards Reception on October 13 in downtown Beaufort. More information about the Reception and the list of all the award categories with past winners are on the Chamber website – www.beaufortchamber.org.
