Attorney Brittany Ward resigns from Beaufort County

County Attorney Brittany Ward has resigned her position with Beaufort County and her last day will be on Dec. 2, according to Beaufort County spokesperson Hannah Nichols.

The county has released a statement regarding Ward.

“Beaufort County has received citizen complaints alleging potentially improper actions regarding County Attorney Brittany Ward. We cannot speak to the veracity of the complaints, but to ensure the matter is investigated thoroughly we have notified law enforcement and have initiated an independent legal review of the matter. We want to assure the citizens of Beaufort County that we take all allegations of impropriety seriously, and if evidence of impropriety is found it will be forwarded to the appropriate authorities,” the statement from Beaufort County said.
