Main Street Beaufort hosting free photography workshop

Main Street Beaufort is hosting a free, hands-on photography workshop from 2:30 to 5 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 13 with Phil Eich of Storyville.

This workshop aims to build a regional network of photographers to strengthen communications, marketing, and small-business storytelling year-round. Local photographers, students, creatives, and community leaders are encouraged to participate. No prior experience is needed — mobile phones work perfectly.

Workshop highlights will include:

  • Three simple tips to instantly improve your photos;
  • Example photography for social media, newsletters, and marketing materials;
  • Hands-on practice with professional feedback; and
  • Real-world photography.

City staff, Main Street teams, local photographers, students, nonprofits, chambers of commerce, and other community marketing partners are invited. Multiple representatives per organization are welcome.

Strong visuals boost social media, newsletters, year-end reports, and marketing campaigns. Creating a local network of trained photographers ensures downtown stories are captured professionally, consistently, and sustainably.

Workshops are free, but space is limited. Community organizations are encouraged to send multiple representatives. Register at https://bit.ly/3N9mT5k.

Poet Davis hosting workshop

Chaplain and poet Will Davis (“Tethered Wrds”) will lead a community workshop on reflection and restorative writing as opportunity to breathe again, speak truth, and let go of what has weighed you down.

This workshop is an invitation to speak life back into those places, to honor the parts of you that were stretched or wounded in the process. Words can be used as swords by hurt, but they can also become a shield, a balm, and a path toward healing. Come ready to write, release, and rebuild.

This is an in-person writers workshop, held at the Pat Conroy Literary Center at 601 Bladen Street in Beaufort on Saturday, Jan. 17, from 10 a.m. to noon. Event is limited to 15 participants with advance registration; free to attend. Please call 843-379-7025 to reserve your spot.
