Police Department’s Facebook Tips Lead To Burglary Arrest

On May 29, 2012 at 2:54 in the morning a suspect used a sledge hammer to break into the
glass door of the Sunoco at 1190 Ribaut Rd. Surveillance cameras captured his action as he
jumped the counter and stole approximately $125 worth of cigarettes and ran back out in
about 30 seconds. The suspect had his head covered with a t-shirt and his face was never seen.
In their efforts to solve the case investigators turned to some friends for help. The pictures and
information were posted on the department’s facebook page. Within an hour the first tip came
in. The anonymous poster reported that an individual was selling cigarettes (the same brand
stolen) out of an apartment. The tip gave investigators the break they needed and as they
followed up the case came together. The suspect, 22 year old Michael Ryan Davis, was arrested
at his apartment in Port Royal on Tuesday, June 5th and charged with 2nd Degree Burglary.
