Carole Ingram, long-time principal of Beaufort Middle School who retired in 2019, became president of Sea Island Rotary Club (SIRC) on July 1 and will lead the 80-member Club through the Covid-19 impacted club year.
Ingram was named SIRC Rotarian of the year in 2018 and has pledged to apply a focus on excellence developed during her 15 years as a principal and 39 years as an educator to the community service work of Sea Island Rotary.
Foremost on Ingram’s list of priorities are community impact projects like the Club-sponsored and operated Smile Mobile, a mobile dental clinic that reaches under-served communities in Beaufort County, and support to organizations like United Way of the Lowcountry, YMCA and Salvation Army.
The Club will also continue to support Rotary International missions to irradicate Polio and find a cure for Alzheimer’s through its C.A.R.T.’s initiative.
Other officers installed were Randy Atkins, Vice President and president-elect; Kathy Bundy, secretary; Meredith Keene, treasurer; and Immediate Past President, Troy Ward, along with directors, John Perrill; Marilyn Peck; Andy Borgert; Bob Ellis; Woody Oakley; Anna Graham; Mark McCain; and Ray Harvey. Whitney McDaniel, Asst. District Governor, presided over the July installation.
Sea Island Rotary is one of three Rotary International Clubs within Beaufort whose members join 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide.
