The Beaufort Crew U-16 and Beaufort Wild Boyz U-12 Soccer teams each win National Championships. The teams recently travelled to the Challenge National Tour Soccer National Championships held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando Florida . The tournament was held on July29-31, 2011. Both teams earned the right to attend the National 3V3 Championships by placing in the top three of a regional tournament. The Wild Boyz U-12 recently won the Jacksonville FL. 3V3 Super Challenge tournament last month to qualify. The Beaufort Crew U-16 also took home first place honors at that tournament. In fact, the Beaufort Crew U-16 has won 4 out of 5 tournaments they have competed in this season.
The Beaufort Wild Boyz U-12 had an outstanding showing at the National tournament by winning seven games straight without a loss. The Championship game was a true test for the “Boyz”. They faced the very same Marco Surge team that defeated them last year for the National title in a 12-2 defeat. This year was a different story and a game of true Championship excitement. The Wild Boyz and the Surge traded goals until they had a 2-2 tie. Both teams missed several scoring opportunities and played a hard fought defensive game until about one minute left in the match when the Beaufort Wild Boyz were able to take advantage of a Marco Surge mistake and score the final goal for the win and a National Championship.
The members of the Beaufort Wild Boyz team are Tyler Videtto, Matthew Campbell, Jack Gambla, John Bell, Caleb Diaz and Will Durbin. The team is Coached by Ron Videtto, assistant coach Kenny Campbell and managed by Karen Videtto.
The Beaufort Crew U-16 finished the tournament with a 5-1 record and a National Championship title. The Beaufort Crew U-16 boys had several hard fought matches but none of them could compare to the “Story Book”finish of the Championship match. In order to win a Championship, you must possess the heart and determination of a champion. This is exactly what they proved they had to everyone who had the pleasure to watch the match. The Beaufort Crew U-16 boys started the match slowly and made several mistakes which enabled the opposing team, the Juniper Sting, to jump to an early lead. The Juniper Sting continued a very impressive offensive attack and had the Beaufort Crew down to a very seemingly hopeless 8-2 deficit at the half. With a very stern halftime talk by the Beaufort Crews’ coach Ron Videtto, the Beaufort Crew took the field in the second half with only one thought in mind. They must WIN! The Beaufort Crew fought there way back with a pace so fast and furious the Juniper Sting had no idea what was happening or how to stop them. The Beaufort Crew scored 6 unanswered goals to even the score at 8-8 with only seconds left in regulation play. The whistle blew and the match was going into overtime. Overtime consisted of the “Golden Goal” rule meaning the first team to score a goal wins. The Juniper sting won the toss and took first possession. The Beaufort Crew had come too far to be denied. With their impressive defense, they forced the Juniper Sting to make a mistake and lose the ball out of bounds. The Beaufort Crew took control and never looked back. With beautiful teamwork and passing, they worked their way down the field and were able to score the final goal for the win.
The members of the Beaufort Crew U-16 team are Brandon Videtto, David Seguine, Josh Guiterrez, Hector Garcia-Lopez, Christian Campbell and Oscar Tierrablanca. The team is coached by Ron Videtto, assistant coach Dave Seguine and managed by Karen Videtto. Both teams have qualified for the Kick It 3V3 World Championships which will be held in January.
