VETERAN OF THE WEEK: KERMIT (CORKY) HENNINGER

Beaufort’s Kermit (Corky) Henninger, 85, entered the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1958 and thereafter served in the Field Artillery Corps in both Korea (8-inch howitzers) and Vietnam (commanding an artillery battalion of 24 155-milimeter howitzers) as well as in diplomatic and instructor posts.

Henninger retired from the service in 1980. He is an active member of American Legion Beaufort Post 9.
