Update: Reports of shots fired at Beaufort High prove unfounded

/

From staff reports

Reports of shots fired Wednesday morning, Oct. 5, at Beaufort High School appear to have been a hoax.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, Beaufort City Police Department, as well as other first responders were on scene at Beaufort High School, located at 84 Sea Island Parkway, after reports around 9:30 a.m., this morning of shots fired.

According to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Department, emergency services have completed the clearance of the school, and no gunshot victims were located during the search nor was a shooter found.

At this point, the origin of the original call is being investigated.

Beaufort County School District is coordinating a reunification plan for students and parents. Parents of Beaufort High School students are urged to monitor text and email communications from the school district for those instructions.
