Individuals and teams are encouraged to register now for LoCo Motion, a three-day walk/run to benefit breast cancer research. The event will be held from Sept. 30-
Oct. 2 on the beaches of Hilton Head and in historic old town Bluffton.
The fees are (ages 16 and under in parentheses): One day, $55 ($30); two days, $85 ($45); and three days, $110 ($55).
Event organizers said they are pleased to see a recent jump in local participation. “It’s gratifying to see that our local community embraces the event,” said Laura Morgan, president Carolina Cups, a nonprofit 501c3 organization that is hosting the event. “Dozens of residents and businesses have said how proud they are to host LoCo Motion and be a part of its mission,” she said.
Local businesses and other groups are encouraged to get involved by becoming sponsors of the event.
“We still have a wide range of sponsorships available, and we hope that the business community will recognize the benefit of a partnership with a cause that people are passionate about,” said Morgan. She added that there are a wide range of sponsorships available and those sponsorships help cover the event production costs and ultimately means more money can to be given to area breast cancer providers.
Proceeds from LoCo Motion will benefit Beaufort Memorial’s Keyserling Cancer Center, Beaufort Jasper Hampton Comprehensive Care and the Hollings Cancer Center at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Donations will be accepted at the event and can also be made directly to Carolina Cups.
