The kick off dinner of The Supper Society was received with much success to a sold out table on Thursday, May 17, at the Old Bay Marketplace. Originated by Historic Beaufort Foundation and Main Street Beaufort, USA, Supper Society dinners feature four-course meals created by local chefs entirely of local ingredients. This first gathering featured chefs Brian Waters of Saltus River Grill and Christopher Hewitt of Southern Graces Bistro.
The menu highlighted cobia, oysters and local produce. Students from LOUD, a local nonprofit that uses media arts and performance slam style poetry to focus teens on strategies for success, served the meal. Gratuities that the students receive will help pay for a trip to San Francisco to compete in HBO’s “Brave New Voices” series. The Beaufort Youth Orchestra provided entertainment. The events are to be held four times a year, and the menus and the guest chefs will be made public, but the full menu and location will be revealed two days prior to the events only to those who have purchased tickets. See you at the next supper! Pictures by Captured Moments Photography.
