The Sea Island Chamber Singers will present a concert of sacred music Sunday, March 10 at 7 p.m. at the Sea Island Presbyterian Church, 81 Lady’s Island Drive, Beaufort. This group of 28 singers is made up of singers from the Sea Island Church and the community. Charles D. Frost, Minister of Music at the Sea Island Church, is the director. Frost started the group three years ago to help fill a gap in Choral Music that existed in Beaufort. He says that although there are other singing groups in Beaufort, there is no group which specializes in performing sacred choral music.
The Chamber Singers is one of several music groups which comprise Sea Island’s Music Ministry. There are children, adult, and handbell choirs in the church’s music program.
Frost has been at the Sea Island Church since 2002 as Minister of Music. He is a graduate of Westminster Choir College of Rider University, Princeton, N.J. where he received both the Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Church Music. He studied organ with Dr. Joan Lippincott, world reknown concert artist.
Sunday’s program will include music written by Beauchamp, Hayes, Nance, Leavitt, Trotta, Shaw, and several African/American Spirituals The public is invited to attend. For more information, contact Frost at 843-525-0696 or cfrost@sipcnet.org.
