Riverview Student chosen as reader of the Month

Lydia Klepper, a kindergartener at Riverview Charter School in Beaufort, has been chosen as May’s Reader of the Month by The Storybook Shoppe, a charming and unique children’s bookstore in old town Bluffton.

Lydia’s parents, Mandy and Eric, started to read to her when she was 3-months-old. When she was a year old, she would hold a book and pretend to read to her parents. She loved “The Napping House,” “A Prayer for a Child,” and “Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?”

She now enjoys the challenge of chapter books, including “Ivy and Bean” and The Magic Treehouse Series.

“Whenever she comes into my store, she’s always eager to point out the books she has at home,” said Storybook Shoppe owner Nancy Beaupre. “She’s also a very sweet and loving child. She always has her arms out, ready for a hug, and I’m always ready to give her one!”

Lydia lives in Beaufort with her parents and younger brother Ethan.

More than 70 percent of the books at the Storybook Shoppe are either star-reviewed or highly recommended by educators in the field of children’s literature.

The Storybook Shoppe is located at 41A Calhoun St. For more information, call 843-757-2600, visit www.thestorybookshoppe.com, or email storybookshoppe@aol.com.
