Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women is celebrating 150 years of sisterhood, and in honor of the occasion the Lowcountry Alumnae Club celebrated its Founders’ Day on April 29 at the Dataw Island Club.

At the event, 70 women from the Greater Charleston, Hilton Head and Savannah Alumnae Club joined the Lowcountry Alumnae Club in Beaufort.

Regional Director Harper Whitten installed the 2018 officers and led the Golden Arrow Ceremony for 50-year members.

The vice president of Pi Beta Phi Foundation, Kathy Ewing, updated the group on the foundation’s activities, including Pi Beta Phi’s over 100 years commitment to literacy.

This year the foundation supported the 765 books the Lowcountry Club distributed locally to St. Helena Elementary School, the preschool program at the YMCA, and the Thumbs Up Beaufort and Thumbs Up Port Royal programs.
