From staff reports

Beaufort Memorial is expanding its women’s health services with the addition of Dr. Tempest Allen, an experienced, board-certified and fellowship-trained OBGYN, according to a media release.

Dr. Allen brings 25 years of gynecological, obstetrical and surgical experience to the team at Beaufort Memorial Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists and will see patients in both Beaufort and Okatie.

She comes to the Lowcountry from Kalamazoo, Mich., where she has spent her career providing comprehensive women’s healthcare and teaching as an assistant clinical professor at the Homer Stryker School of Medicine.

Inspired by her mother, a pediatric nurse, Dr. Allen knew from a young age that she wanted to work in medicine and earned her degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. She specializes in menopause management, infertility and endometriosis, and has performed more than 1,000 robot-assisted gynecologic surgeries. She also brings to Beaufort Memorial extensive experience in minimally invasive procedures, myomectomies, endometriosis treatment and pelvic reconstruction.

Obstetrics has been a passion throughout Dr. Allen’s career. In high school, she shadowed an OBGYN in her Ohio hometown and even assisted in a deliver at age 16 – an experience that left her “hooked.”

“My goal as a physician is to listen and help patients find solutions to their concerns at all stages of life,” she said. “Patients will be listened to, taken seriously and never judged.”

At Bronson Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialists in Michigan, Dr. Allen was voted “Best OBGYN in Kalamazoo” for more than 15 years for her emphasis on patient-first, compassionate care for women at every stage of life.

At the practice, Dr. Allen joins board-certified physicians Drs. Tiffany Bersani and Curtis J. Elam as well as certified nurse practitioner Melissa Mesenburg, certified physician assistant Peyton Erb McManus and certified nurse midwife Catherine Tambroni-Parker.
