New studio space for artists opens

The public is invited to celebrate the opening of the new Lovell/Male Studio on June 14, from 4 to 8 p.m.; light fare and cash bar. The work of Laurie Lovell and Cindy Male quietly invite the viewer to consider aspects of perception beyond the material plane. Their fine art work is followed by applied, patterned, and textured pieces that include, but are not limited to, fashion and interiors.

As the artists settle in, their new creative space will also house classes, such as weaving, art card construction, drawing, painting, and Art & Consciousness, which probes into individual creativity through art history, art making, writing, creativity evaluation, color study, and synergy/synthesis of explorative efforts. Lovell’s first classes are registering now: 379-2787.

Laurie Lovell is a member of the Fiber Guild of Savannah: “My goal is to create art objects that project a contemplative feeling with an underlying connection to the natural world.” Cindy Male has studied in Cortona, Italy with the University of Georgia, and at Fashion Institute in New York City. She received her MA from Vermont College at Norwich University in Creative Studies, and an MFA in Fibers from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
