for more choices to the local dining scene. Located in Beaufort Town Center in the former spot of The Irish Rose, Sisters is owned by Sanya and Jerome Wearrien, who have several other locations around Savannah. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and, as their motto says, specialize in real Southern

cooking.

For appetizers, the Lunch Bunch tried the “Sisters Sisters Shrimps” and the fried okra, and both were tasty.

Irene ordered the fried chicken with green beans and collard greens as sides. She said the chicken was crispy and juicy, and the collards were great. Her whole plate represented classic Southern cuisine.

The Lunch Special includes one meat and two sides, so I chose the baked chicken with collard greens and okra and tomatoes, and it was all very good.

Nikki enjoyed her Hamburger Steak with sides of collard greens and squash.

Kathleen opted for the Philly Steak sandwich made with grilled onions and peppers and melted cheese.

Like many people trying to eat healthy at the beginning of the year, April chose the garden salad with grilled chicken.

Kim and Elizabeth also went healthy and both ordered the Vegetable Plate. Between the two of them they had squash, collard greens, okra and tomato, fried okra, green beans, cabbage, and lima beans.

We sampled the white velvet cake and the banana pudding from the extensive dessert menu, and the savory sweetness was the perfect way to end a yummy meal and pleasant dining experience.

Sisters Real Southern Cooking is located at 2121 Boundary Street, Suite 100, Beaufort, SC, 29902.
