Lesley’s daughter, Caroline, 12, nominated her mother with a heartfelt email. She wrote: “My mom is a wonderful, caring and loving mother of two beautiful kids but has a terrible thing, bladder cancer. She really needs a spring clean house. When she comes back from all those hard days at the hospital, she will not have time to clean because she will be recovering from her surgery. She also is a second grade teacher at Mossy Oaks. On top of all that, she has to pay the mortgage and the bills on her own, and now she has a really big surgery at MUSC and will be out of work for six weeks or more.”

The house cleaners read all the entries to the contest and what made them choose Mrs. Perry is the fact that she’s a teacher.  Merry Maids’ Michelle Lad said, “Teachers have it rough, and to deal with cancer on top of working to pay bills and taking care of 2 kids, well, she deserves a little pampering.  The fact that her daughters nominated her, and love her so much to get her the help she needs is just heart warming.  They say they help too, but really school and homework are very important. Mrs. Perry will be out of work for six weeks or more, and if we can help her concentrate on getting better and not mopping the floors, well, that just makes all the Merry Maids smile!”

Lesley will receive four weeks of free cleanings by Beaufort Merry Maids.
