At 12:49 a.m. this morning Beaufort Police Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery that had taken place in the parking lot of the Howard Johnsons Motel, located at 3651 TraskParkway. A 66 year-old man told officers that he got out of his vehicle, and three masked men approached him holding handguns. The subjects, who the victim described as black males, were dressed in dark clothing and had masks over their faces. One of the subjects took the victim’swallet and rummaged through his vehicle, while the other two suspects held him at gunpoint.The suspects then fled the area headed towards the bus station, leaving the victim unharmed. A BCSO K-9 tracking team arrived and searched for the suspects. The search team found the victim’s wallet, but the cash was missing from it. The suspects were not located during the search.
