More than 30 volunteers with the Gullah/Geechee Initiative Foundation on Saturday converged at the Martin Luther King Park near Penn Center on St. Helena Island to help pick up trash and debris. The event, according to organizer Kamal Wigfall, was held in conjunction with Clean Up Beaufort County and will become an annual event.
