Lubkin leads Eagles to victory

Beaufort High boys golf claimed another victory over its Lowco rivals Tuesday, winning an eight-team tournament at Fripp Island Club’s Ocean Creek course. 

The Eagles carded a team score of 146 to best runner-up Hilton Head High by 13 strokes. May River took bronze with a tally of 160, while Bluffton placed fifth recording a 176.

Jack Lubkin led the way for Beaufort with a dazzling nine-hole mark of 3-under 33, matching Conner Heyboer of James Island for medalist honors. 

May River’s Andrew Swanson and Beaufort’s Jerry Bruns, fresh off his win at the Carolinas Golf Association’s HV3 Invitational over the weekend, were one shot off the pace with 34s. George Cooler shot 38, and Simon McAlister and Jack Sumner each posted 41 to round out the Eagles’ winning lineup.

Nolan Hawkins paced the Seahawks with a 38, and Garrett Fader carded a 39. May River’s Braydon O’Leary and Sepp Pearson posted 38s, and Bluffton’s Jones Saylor and Brady Sacha each shot 39 to pace the Bobcats.
