Female Suspect Arrested in Yesterday’s Home Invasion

A Beaufort woman has been arrested and investigators are working to identify three additional suspects involved in a home invasion that occurred yesterday evening.

Thirty-seven year old Shannon Margaret Barnett was arrested during the course of a traffic stop following a burglary and robbery occurring at a Windsong Ln. home at approximately 6:30 pm last night. Deputies stopped Barnett while searching for a black Infiniti sedan reportedly seen fleeing from the Windsong Ln. burglary. Barnett was the driver and sole occupant of the black 2006 Infiniti that was stopped in the area of Qualls Dr. and Vanita
Dr.

Deputies had responded to the Windsong Ln. home where they met with three male victims, ages 24, 34 and 66. The victims advised that three unknown black males had made forced entry to their home through a rear door. The men, armed with an AK-47 and a shotgun, held all three victims at gunpoint in the living room. At that time, a white female, known to the victims as “Shannon,” entered the home and began rummaging through the bedrooms.

After stealing a camera, all four suspects fled the home, leaving the victims unharmed. The victims called 911 after seeing the suspects flee in the black Infiniti. Once the vehicle was stopped, Barnett was positively identified as the female involved in the robbery. She has been charged with 1st degree Burglary, Armed Robbery, and three counts of Kidnapping.

The remaining suspects have yet to be identified. They were all described as black males between 25-30 years of age, all wearing blue jeans, black shirts, and had bandanas concealing their faces.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to contact either Investigator Cpl. A. Zsamar at 843-255-3408 or the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at 843-524-2777.
