Eagles stay perfect in region with pair of sweeps

Beaufort High boys tennis continued its undefeated run through Region 7-4A play with a 7-0 sweep of visiting Colleton County on Tuesday and a 6-0 win at May River on Thursday. 

The Eagles won all seven matches against the Cougars in straight sets, dropping a total of three games. Graeme Angus, Tucker Martin, Diego Alvarez, Bodie Daniel, and Griffin Stone all breezed through their singles matches, and the doubles teams of Angus and Alvarez and Joseph Combs and Witt Compton had no trouble finishing off their opponents.

Beaufort kept rolling with a 6-0 sweep at May River Thursday. The Eagles swept all six courts in straight sets with the highlight coming at No. 2 singles, where Martin rallied from a 5-2 deficit in the second set to close out a 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) win over Said Hernandez.

Angus, Alvarez, Daniel, and Stone all breezed through their singles matches, and Combs and Compton swept to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles for the Eagles.

Beaufort (6-1, 6-0) traveled to Bluffton for another region match Tuesday. The Eagles swept the Bobcats 6-0 on March 11.
