Dataw Island thanks first responders

Dataw Island hosted more than 90 first responders on Wednesday, April 5 for an appreciation cookout and golf outing.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, Lady’s Island-St. Helena Fire District and Beaufort County EMS enjoyed a luncheon at the Dataw Island Clubhouse and a round of golf in appreciation of their hard work and dedication.

“This has been the best turnout we’ve ever had,” Dataw Island director of security Arthur Aldridge said in a release. “Everyone is so appreciative of the acknowledgement of their hard work and dedication to the community.”

Attendees were treated to cookout style buffet followed by a round of golf on the Morgan River Course for anyone who was able to stay and play.

“Our employees are so appreciative of this day,” Chief Bruce Kline of the Lady’s Island-St. Helena Fire District said.

“The first responders have difficult and dangerous jobs, and this annual event is a great way to tell all of them ‘thank you,’” Aldridge said.
