Are you a mural artist?
If so, you have the opportunity to leave your mark on historic downtown Beaufort!
According to a news release, the City of Beaufort, in collaboration with the Beaufort Cultural District, is seeking proposals from talented mural artists to design an eye-catching exterior wall mural for the City of Beaufort Marina Restrooms Building. The mural will be approximately 9 feet high by 18 feet wide.
The winning design will be chosen by a committee of art professionals and City staff. It should reflect the history, nature, and beauty of Beaufort. This is a fantastic chance to contribute to the cultural fabric of Beaufort and to showcase your talent on a public platform.
THE DETAILS
Location: Marina Restrooms Building, Downtown Marina, north wall.
Deadline to submit: Wednesday, Feb. 28.
Semifinalists notified: Friday, March 8.
Final design submission for semifinalists: Saturday, March 30.
Stipend for semifinalists: $250.
Final design selected: Wednesday, April 10.
Winner’s award: $4,000.
Mural painting: Summer of 2024.

Submittal Requirements
• Current resume or CV (PDF or Word format).
• One letter of reference regarding the artist’s creative work experience.
• 3 high-quality images of the artist’s previous work (.jpg or .pdf format).
• Concept sketches illustrating the artist’s vision for this project. Artists may submit up to 3 different concept sketches. (.jpg or .pdf format).
• Optional written description for each concept sketch may be provided, at the artists’ discretion.
Selection criteria
•The design should reflect the history, nature and beauty of Beaufort.
•The design should be a welcome image for our visitors and residents to enjoy.
•The design should be “instagrammable” to encourage visitors to photograph and share on social media.
•The design should demonstrate the artist’s skills and creativity.
Other conditions
• The artists shall retain intellectual property rights.
• At its sole discretion, the City of Beaufort shall have the right to retain the proposal materials (i.e. sketches, drawings, illustrations, design images). Full credit will be given to artist if materials are disseminated by print or digital means.
• Proposed artwork must be original and unique to this project.
• The final design winner shall enter into a contractual agreement with the City of Beaufort to complete the mural.
• The final design winner must commit to completing the mural during the summer of 2024.
• Supplies, materials, and equipment required by the finalist to complete the mural will be provided by the City of Beaufort.
