The City of Beaufort has installed new audio/ video equipment in its council chambers, planning conference room and municipal court.

The new equipment includes cameras, microphones and recording equipment, which will allow city staff to post audio minutes of its public meetings on its website, according to a news release issued by the city.

The city began to plan for the new equipment over the summer, when its 9-year-old system in its municipal court began to fail, the release stated.

The audio minutes will be available one to two days after meetings, and can be found in the agendas section of the website at www.cityofbeaufort.org/agendacenter. The audio minutes will be accompanied by brief written minutes that state the motions made during a particular session or meeting.

City Council work sessions and regular sessions can also be viewed live on Facebook or after meetings. The city plans to add the meetings to its YouTube page as well.
