City Council meetings will use Zoom for comments

The City of Beaufort has begun using Zoom, a popular online-based videoconferencing tool, for public comment during its city council meetings.

All city meetings are still being held virtually in an effort to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, said Kathleen Williams, the city’s communications and marketing manager.

Those who wish to make a comment during either a city council work session or regular meeting can join the Zoom meeting as a participant. The link will be provided on council agendas and shared in the comments section on Facebook.

Viewers can still watch work sessions and regular meetings live via the city’s Facebook page, at www.facebook.com/CityBeaufortSC, but city council will no longer address comments made there.

In addition, a call-in number will be provided for those who cannot access Zoom.

Comments can also be emailed prior to meetings by emailing City Clerk Ivette Burgess at iburgess@cityofbeaufort.org.
