Beaufort Academy held its annual Alumni Basketball Game on Sunday, December 22, 2013, at 3 p.m. Once again, the number and range of players was exciting to see, from the class of ’93 to the class of ’13. In addition, the game brought back many families of alumni, some parents who haven’t sat in the BA bleachers in 10 years, and a few wives and children of the
players who watched their husbands and fathers play in their high school gym for the first time.
This year’s game was very special as it was played in memory of Carl Harper, a BA alumni (class of ’87) who passed away earlier this year. Carl was a basketball player during his time at BA, and since then had remained involved as a coach and alumni game regular. Thank you to the friends and family of Carl who came to the game and watched BA basketball in his honor.
The game was a nail biter, down to the last basket. Kudos to Kyle Cheung who propelled the Blue Team to a 2-point victory over the White Team in the final seconds of the game.
Thank you to the game referees, Jim Wegmann and Framp Harper (BA ’85). Special thanks to this year’s game sponsor Mikell, Weidner, Wegmann, & Harper, LLC.
