Bank robbery on Lady’s Island under investigation

LADY’S ISLAND, SC (August 5, 2014/12:30 PM) –  Beaufort County’s Office investigators are at the scene of a bank robbery that occurred this afternoon on Lady’s Island.

Just after 12:15 pm, deputies responded to an activated alarm at BB&T (1 Kemmerlin Ln). Upon arrival, it was learned that an armed robbery had occurred moments earlier.

Two men, armed with a handgun entered the bank and demanded money. After being given an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspects fled through the front door and were last seen running towards Club Rd. No injuries were reported as a result of the robbery.

The suspects are described as black males between 5’07”-6’00”. One was wearing a baggy white shirt and dark baggy pants. The other was wearing a baggy black shirt and dark baggy pants.

A perimeter has been established in the area surrounding the scene and the bank will remain closed for business until further notice. Members of the Sheriff’s Office K9 Tracking Team are actively searching the area. Motorists, residents, and business owners  in the area are asked to exercise caution as the suspects at large are considered armed and dangerous.
