BEAUFORT POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE May 20, 2011: ARMED ROBBERY REPORTED
On May 20th 2011 a 34 year old man met with police to report that he had been robbed the night before (May 19th). According to the complainant he was walking to his car in the parking lot of Wal-Mart at approximately 10:00 p.m. whenhe was approached by four subjects who knocked him down and held a knife to his neck. The man reported that he struggled briefly then gave the suspects a small amount of cash and they fled into the woods. The complainant reported receiving minor injuries during the struggle. He described the suspects as four black males,one was heavy set with medium length dreadlocks, the second was wearing a Cincinnati Reds baseball cap, the third had on a Philadelphia Phillies baseball cap and the fourth was just described as being thin. The victim could not explain why he waited until the next day to report the crime. The case is under investigation. Anyone with information regarding it is requested to call the dispatch office at 524-2777.
