Monday At The Movies returning to CFA in January

From staff reports

It’s Oscar season at the USC Beaufort Center For The Arts.

Hoping to kick off the new year with cinematic joy, the CFA announces two notable movie screenings coming Beaufort’s way to Monday At The Movies in January.

Firstly, on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, Oppenheimer will screen at 3 and 7 p.m. The film lasts 3 hours.

During World War II, Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves Jr. appoints physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer to work on the top-secret Manhattan Project. Oppenheimer and a team of scientists spend years developing and designing the atomic bomb.

Their work comes to fruition on July 16, 1945, as they witness the world’s first nuclear explosion, forever changing the course of history.

Then on Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, The Holdovers will screen at 3 and 7 p.m. The film runs 2 hurs, 13 minutes.

A curmudgeonly instructor at a New England prep school remains on campus during Christmas break to babysit a handful of students with nowhere to go. He soon forms an unlikely bond with a brainy but damaged troublemaker, and with the school’s head cook, a woman who just lost a son in the Vietnam War.

Both films will be screened at the Center for the Arts, providing viewers with a chance to witness these cinematic gems in a comfortable and immersive setting, just in time for the Academy Awards in March.
